I’m an expert at taking complex business and accounting issues and making them simple! People love to hear me speak and coach with me because I drop knowledge that keeps them in business and out of the unemployment line. I do all this while making them laugh and forgetting about the time.

On a personal note...

My family is EVERYTHING!!!!

On April 20, 2016, Anthony and I eloped.  We got married in our dining room, spent our honeymoon in Punta Cuna, and then announced it to our friends and family on Facebook when we got back. The reactions were nothing short of HILARIOUS! They ranged from pure shock to ultimate admiration.  My husband is a pretty cool dude, he has 24 years of marital arts training and is a 5th degree black belt in TaekwonDo and Ninjitsu.  He’s extremely supportive and loving.

I have an amazing (adult) daughter, Kenya. She is smart, caring, ambitious and a born leader.  At the age of 3 she decided that she was not going to wear pants anymore because boys wore pants and she was a girl.  After fighting with her for an entire week, I conceded and she wore dressed to EVERYTHING for an entire year.  By age 4 she grew out of that, and now she rarely wears dresses.  She will be graduating from Howard University in May 2017 with a BS in Health Education and a Minor in Sociology.  She’s also an entrepreneur, so check out her shirts on my store.

My mom (not pictured) is my best friend and she’s means the world to me. She’s extremely creative and “low-key” hilarious.  It’s amazing how we can talk on the phone for an hour at a time.  Especially since I do not like talking on the phone (unless it’s business related – **wink, wink**).  I’m blessed to not only have her as a mother and friend, but she’s also the best executive assistant in the world. She keeps my office running smoothly and she’s behind me 100%!

I am an accountant, author, business coach and consultant, professional speaker, and trainer committed to “Keeping Small Business In Business”.  In addition to my coaching and speaking practice I run a tax and forensic accounting firm, By The Book Accounting. That business has allowed me to help thousands of entrepreneurs across the country start, run, and grow thriving ventures.

I am an overachiever so I “kinda” overdid it when it came to school.  I earned my B.S. in Accounting from the nation’s oldest institution of higher learning for African Americans, Cheyney University of PA.  I later earned an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and then a M.S. in Fraud and Forensics from Carlow University. I earned the second masters in 12 months and I graduated with a 3.9 GPA (I got an A- in two classes). And as if that’s not enough, I’m also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).  So what does that mean to you? Let’s just say I know my stuff and I’m committed to doing and being better. I show up for my clients the same way! 

I have conducted workshops for the U.S. Small Business Administration, in addition to developing seminar series of my own.  I have helped thousands of clients and workshop attendees alike avoid costly mistakes and save thousands of dollars in taxes. The advantage of working with me is, you get to learn from my mistakes (which are a lot) AND the mistakes of my clients. I teach what I have experienced.  There’s no theory in my teaching, not one ounce.

Even with all these things going on, because of the efficient business practices I employ (and teach) I am able to maintain a very balanced lifestyle.  If you follow me on social media you will see in addition to handling my businesses (I own several), I have an active social life and time with family and friends is very important. I encounter lots of entrepreneurs who cannot say that and they feel trapped.  Instead of owning a business, their business owns them.  My job is to set you free.  I founded “The Efficient CEO Movementwhere I teach entrepreneurs the importance of creating efficient enterprises which allows them to lead balanced lives.
